QUIMBOL HAT · UMBRAL
A piece of fine Panamanian millinery born from the meeting of heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary design. Its creation begins with the quimbol, one of the traditional woven patterns found in Panama’s sombrero pintado, handcrafted through knowledge passed down from generation to generation and deeply connected to the artisan communities of Coclé.
For UMBRAL, this traditional language takes on a new expression through a close-fitting, brimless, sculptural silhouette inspired by the elegance of European haute millinery from the interwar period. The piece is adorned with sculptural calla lilies handcrafted in bronze and finished with 24-karat gold plating, creating a dialogue with the floral and symbolic identity of the collection.
The creative direction and concept were developed by Michelle Ferrer, while the traditional quimbol weave was handcrafted by Panamanian artisan Orlando Martínez, honoring the authorship, provenance, and cultural legacy of the knowledge from which the piece originates.
Each hat is the result of a shared creative process in which design does not obscure tradition, but keeps it visible, acknowledged, and alive. An exceptional work that brings together fine millinery, goldsmithing, and Panamanian heritage in a collectible piece created to transcend generations.
